This milestone marks a significant step in enhancing the representation of subject-specific student organizations on the global stage.
Tiago Nogueira, hailing from Portugal, brings a wealth of experience to the GSF. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and is currently pursuing a Master's in European Union Law at the University of Minho. His background includes holding various representative roles within university bodies and working groups, such as the Academic Senate and the Disciplinary Board, in addition to extensive involvement in student associations. Since last year, he has been serving as Vice-President and Head of the Programs Department at the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS).
The Subject-Based Student Organisation Constituency was established to ensure that student organizations focused on specific academic disciplines have a voice in the GSF's decision-making processes. Nogueira's election to this role underscores the GSF's dedication to inclusivity and the recognition of diverse academic perspectives within the global student community.
In his new capacity, Tiago will be responsible for liaising with subject-based student organizations worldwide, advocating for their interests, and facilitating their active participation in GSF initiatives. His appointment is expected to strengthen the ties between the GSF and various academic communities, fostering greater collaboration and understanding.
On his election, Tiago says:
I’m honoured to have been elected as a Steering Committee Member representing the Subject-Based Student Organisation Constituency. Grateful for the trust placed in me and excited to contribute to a more inclusive, collaborative, and forward-thinking student representation – one that amplifies diverse voices and empowers a global academic community.
I’m committed to being an active advocate for the SBSO Constituency and students worldwide, working towards high-quality and democratic education and fostering an environment where dialogue, cooperation, and innovation thrive.
The GSF extends its congratulations to Tiago Nogueira on his election and looks forward to his contributions in advancing the organization's mission to represent and amplify the voices of students globally.
